About Cult of the Lamb
Cult of the Lamb is an action roguelike with cult management mechanics developed by Australian studio Massive Monster and published by Devolver Digital. It was released on August 11, 2022, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and macOS. Cult of the Lamb holds a Metacritic score of 82 and an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam.
The last surviving lamb is rescued from execution by a mysterious imprisoned deity called The One Who Waits. In exchange for its freedom and a divine Red Crown, the Lamb must build a devoted cult in the deity's name and hunt down the four Bishops who keep him imprisoned. The story drives both halves of the game until a final confrontation.
Gameplay alternates between two distinct loops. During crusades, players navigate procedurally generated dungeons filled with enemies, collecting resources and tarot card power-ups as they work toward each Bishop's lair. Combat is fast and top-down, with different weapons and abilities shaping each run.
Between crusades, players return to the cult's base and manage a growing flock of followers. Followers must be fed, kept faithful through daily sermons, housed, and kept healthy. Left unattended, followers grow doubtful, fall ill, or age and eventually die. Resources gathered during crusades are used to build new structures, perform rituals, and unlock additional mechanics for expanding and controlling the community.
The game has received multiple significant free updates since launch, including local co-op through the Unholy Alliance update, which added a second playable character and new content. A paid expansion called Woolhaven launched on January 22, 2026.

Yes. Local co-op for two players was added through the free Unholy Alliance update. One player controls the Lamb and the other plays as the Goat, with both able to tackle the full campaign together along with the new content the update introduced.
The game alternates between crusades and cult management. Crusades are roguelite dungeon runs where players fight through procedurally generated levels to find resources and work toward boss encounters. Cult management happens back at the base between runs, where players build structures, feed and care for followers, perform rituals, and keep the community faithful. Progress in each loop feeds into the other.
