The game is set in Lordran, a crumbling dark fantasy kingdom tied to a cycle of fire and death. Players take on the role of the Chosen Undead, a cursed warrior destined to either prolong the Age of Fire or let it fade. The world is built as a single interconnected environment, with no loading screens between areas, letting players discover shortcuts and connections across the map as they progress deeper into the kingdom.
Combat in Dark Souls is deliberate and punishing. Every enemy has defined attack patterns, and fights rely on timing, stamina management, and positioning rather than raw speed alone.
