The game centers on Dave, an enthusiastic but distinctly out-of-shape diver enlisted by his eccentric friend Bancho to supply fresh seafood for a high-end sushi restaurant. His source is the Blue Hole, a mysterious and ever-shifting underwater location that conceals increasingly strange depths and creatures.
Gameplay splits across two distinct phases that repeat each in-game day. During the day, players take Dave into the Blue Hole to dive, explore, and catch fish using harpoons, nets, and other weapons. The ocean layout and available creatures shift between dives, keeping each trip unpredictable. Running out of oxygen before surfacing means losing the items and fish collected that dive, adding a degree of risk to each expedition.
At night, players switch to running Bancho Sushi. The fish caught during the day become dishes on the menu, and players must manage incoming orders, hire and train staff, and unlock new recipes as the restaurant grows. Success on the restaurant side funds better diving equipment, and better dives provide better ingredients to improve the business further.
Beyond the main loop, the game includes multiple story missions, side quests, and minigames across a runtime of roughly 30 to 40 hours. An eclectic cast of characters and a tone that blends genuine warmth with absurd humor runs throughout the entire experience.

The Blue Hole is the underwater location Dave dives into each day. It is a mysterious, ever-shifting sea environment that changes its layout and available creatures between dives. As the game progresses, Dave ventures deeper into the Blue Hole, encountering new biomes, stranger creatures, and an unfolding mystery about what lies at its depths.
Each in-game day is split into a diving phase and a restaurant phase. During the day, players take Dave into the Blue Hole to explore, collect fish, and gather resources. At night, the fish and ingredients caught are used to run Bancho Sushi, where players manage orders, staff, and menu development. The two halves feed into each other: better dives improve the restaurant, and restaurant income funds better diving equipment.
Most players complete the main story in around 30 to 40 hours. The game includes additional side quests, optional storylines, and minigames that can extend it significantly depending on how much of the content players pursue.
