The game centers on Dave, an enthusiastic but distinctly out-of-shape diver enlisted by his eccentric friend Bancho to supply fresh seafood for a high-end sushi restaurant. His source is the Blue Hole, a mysterious and ever-shifting underwater location that conceals increasingly strange depths and creatures.
Gameplay splits across two distinct phases that repeat each in-game day. During the day, players take Dave into the Blue Hole to dive, explore, and catch fish using harpoons, nets, and other weapons. The ocean layout and available creatures shift between dives, keeping each trip unpredictable. Running out of oxygen before surfacing means losing the items and fish collected that dive, adding a degree of risk to each expedition.
At night, players switch to running Bancho Sushi. The fish caught during the day become dishes on the menu, and players must manage incoming orders, hire and train staff, and unlock new recipes as the restaurant grows. Success on the restaurant side funds better diving equipment, and better dives provide better ingredients to improve the business further.
Beyond the main loop, the game includes multiple story missions, side quests, and minigames across a runtime of roughly 30 to 40 hours. An eclectic cast of characters and a tone that blends genuine warmth with absurd humor runs throughout the entire experience.
