About Dead by Daylight
Dead by Daylight is an asymmetric multiplayer survival horror game developed and published by Behaviour Interactive. It was released on PC via Steam on June 14, 2016, becoming one of the first games to establish the asymmetric horror genre. Each match places one player as the Killer and up to four players as Survivors on a procedurally generated map. Survivors must repair five generators scattered across the map to power the exit gates and escape before being caught. The Killer must find, down, and hook each Survivor for sacrifice to the Entity, the ancient force that governs the realm where all matches take place.
Each Killer has a distinct power that defines how they hunt. The Trapper lays bear traps across the map. The Nurse phases through obstacles and teleports short distances. The Hillbilly uses a chainsaw for rapid traversal and instant downs on contact. Each Survivor carries a unique personal perk alongside a loadout system that lets players build custom perk sets from those unlocked across the full roster.
The game's roster has grown continuously through regular Chapter releases, each typically adding a new Killer, a new Survivor, and sometimes a new map. Licensed chapters have introduced characters from franchises including Halloween, Resident Evil, Stranger Things, Silent Hill, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Alien, and many others. Each match is a 4v1 session on a procedurally generated map. Four Survivors must repair five generators to unlock the exit gates and escape. One Killer must track down each Survivor, wound them, pick them up, and hang them on a hook for the Entity to claim. Survivors who are hooked three times are eliminated. A match ends when all Survivors either escape or are eliminated.
