About Dead Cells

Dead Cells is a roguelite action platformer developed by Motion Twin, combining fast combat, branching level progression, permanent upgrades, and metroidvania-inspired exploration. Players control a failed alchemical experiment known as the Prisoner, fighting through a cursed island filled with monsters, traps, bosses, secret routes, and powerful weapons.

The core loop is built around runs. Each attempt sends players through dangerous biomes where they collect weapons, skills, mutations, gold, and cells used to unlock permanent upgrades. Death sends you back to the beginning, but new equipment, routes, and knowledge make every run part of long-term progression.

Combat is the main focus. Dead Cells rewards fast reactions, dodging, parrying, positioning, and smart weapon choices. Players can build around swords, bows, shields, traps, grenades, turrets, status effects, and strange experimental tools, creating different playstyles from run to run.
