In LoL, "flame" refers to hostile or abusive communication directed at teammates or opponents. Flaming includes insults, criticism, and generally negative comments that can negatively impact the team’s performance and morale. That behavior leads to penalties and bans from Riot Games for violating the game's code of conduct.
Impact of flaming
Flaming disrupts team cooperation and adds negatively to the game, more than that, it even lowers performance, often leading to a decreased win ratio. But hopefully, Riot Games is fighting it.
How to deal with flaming?
Flaming unfortunately is a common phenomenon in League of Legends, so we have prepared a couple of ways and actions you can take in your games to counter this toxic behavior.
Reporting
Players can report others for flaming as fast as in champion select. Riot isn't indifferent to this negative behavior and it very often results in penalties, including chat restrictions and account bans.
Muting as a Solution
Players in LoL have 2 options to mute others who are flaming to avoid exposure to negative interactions. You can see them below.
Option 1 - Easier
- Click "Enter" when the match is started
- Type "/mute all"
- Click "Enter" again
- Now all of your allies are muted.
Option 2 - More Comfortable
- Click "Esc" after the match has started.
- Go to the chat settings.
- Select the option "Only to the party"
- Now every time you spawn on summoners rift you cannot see what the players are writing.
Focus on game / Play with friends
It happens sometimes that you just have toxic teammates who blame everyone excluding themselves, so just focus on having fun, as we mentioned earlier you can mute your team, and remember you can also play with friends because it is all about having fun, what is the point of playing if it isn't fun for you?
