About Goat Simulator 3
Goat Simulator 3 is a third-person sandbox action game developed by Coffee Stain North and published by Coffee Stain Publishing. The game was released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows via the Epic Games Store on November 17, 2022, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions following on October 24, 2024, and the Steam version arriving on February 15, 2024. Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 versions followed later, along with a special PlayStation 5 physical release, the Goat Overload Edition, bundling both expansions and several DLC packs together.
Players control Pilgor, the recurring goat protagonist of the series, exploring the sandbox island of San Angora and causing all manner of chaos across an open world the developers describe as 18 times larger than the original 2014 game. The signature licking mechanic returns, letting the goat's tongue latch onto objects, vehicles, and other items scattered throughout the world for physics-based mayhem. New to the series is a dedicated story mode, sending players on a quest to ascend the ranks of a secretive illuminati-style goat society, working toward unlocking the goat castle door and a final confrontation with the farmer.
Over 300 gear parts let players customize their goat's head, back, feet, body, horns, and fur, with some pieces purely cosmetic and others granting special abilities that change how the character plays. Distinct gameplay sections outside the main sandbox loop include a Wolfenstein 3D-style first-person shooter parody among other genre send-ups scattered throughout the world. Four-player local or online co-op lets players explore San Angora together, causing cooperative havoc, alongside seven competitive multiplayer minigames playable at any point during a session.
The Steam release included every content update available up to launch, including new goats, gear, missions, and secrets, with the developers continuing to add further free updates and paid DLC afterward. Two major paid expansions, Multiverse of Nonsense and Baadlands: Furry Road, have since been released, alongside smaller DLC packs like Hocus Pocus and Super Duper.
Goat Simulator 3 holds a Metacritic score of 71. Goat Simulator 3 is available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Game Pass Premium.
