Star Wars Games
Star Wars has been one of gaming's most prolific licenses for over four decades, spanning nearly every genre imaginable. Shooters, RPGs, flight simulators, strategy games, racing games, and family-friendly LEGO adventures have all taken players to a galaxy far, far away, and many of the franchise's best-loved characters and stories were born in games rather than films.
New and Modern Star Wars Games
The newest wave of Star Wars games is some of the most varied the series has seen. Star Wars: Galactic Racer, releasing October 6, 2026 from Fuse Games, brings back Star Wars racing for the first time in decades. Star Wars Zero Company, released in August 2026, is a turn-based tactics game set during the Clone Wars, where players lead a squad of mercenaries through a covert conflict. Star Wars Outlaws was the first open-world Star Wars game, following the scoundrel Kay Vess through the criminal underworld. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and its sequel Jedi: Survivor follow Cal Kestis, a Jedi survivor of Order 66, through action-adventure games built around lightsaber combat and exploration. Star Wars: Squadrons delivers cockpit-view starfighter dogfights, and Star Wars Battlefront and Battlefront II bring large-scale multiplayer battles across iconic locations from the films.
Classic RPGs and Action-Adventure
Some of the franchise's most celebrated stories come from its earlier games. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and its sequel, The Sith Lords, are widely regarded as two of the best RPGs ever made, built around branching choices and the moral pull between the light and dark sides of the Force. The Force Unleashed and its sequel follow Starkiller, a secret apprentice of Darth Vader. The Jedi Knight series, from Dark Forces through Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy, follows Kyle Katarn from mercenary to Jedi, while Republic Commando and Bounty Hunter offer very different views of the galaxy from the ground level.
Space Combat and Flight Games
Star Wars helped define the space flight simulation genre. X-Wing, TIE Fighter, X-Wing vs TIE Fighter, and X-Wing Alliance are landmark PC flight sims, while Rogue Squadron 3D and Starfighter bring more arcade-style flight action. Squadrons continues that tradition for a modern audience.
Strategy Games
Empire at War lets players command land and space battles across the galaxy, Galactic Battlegrounds brings Star Wars to the real-time strategy formula, and Rebellion puts the entire Galactic Civil War on a single strategic map. Zero Company adds a modern turn-based tactics take to the lineup.
LEGO Star Wars
The LEGO Star Wars series offers a lighter, family-friendly way through the saga, with humour, co-op play, and hundreds of characters to unlock. The lineup covers The Complete Saga, The Clone Wars, The Force Awakens, and The Skywalker Saga, which spans all nine films of the main story.
