About Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition
The Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition bundles the base game with the Kombat Pack, the Jean-Claude Van Damme skin for Johnny Cage, and 1,250 Dragon Krystals. The game is a soft reboot of the Mortal Kombat franchise, the second overall reboot following 2011's Mortal Kombat. Set in a brand new timeline created by Liu Kang after the events of Mortal Kombat 11's Aftermath expansion, the story follows the Fire God assembling a group of champions to take part in the latest Mortal Kombat tournament while navigating a growing threat from a mysterious adversary from another timeline. The base roster features 22 reimagined versions of iconic fighters, including Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kitana, Johnny Cage, Kenshi, and Baraka, many with significantly altered backstories and relationships compared to prior entries.
The Kameo Fighter system is the defining new mechanic of Mortal Kombat 1. Separate from the main roster, Kameo Fighters are support characters chosen before each match who can be called in during combat to extend combos, interrupt opponents, and deliver their own Fatalities and Brutalities. The base game includes 15 Kameo Fighters. Invasions is a single-player seasonal mode offering a variety of challenges across a board game-style map with its own progression track. The Kombat Pack adds six new playable main roster fighters: Quan Chi, Ermac, Takeda Takahashi, Omni-Man from the Invincible franchise, Peacemaker from the DC universe, and Homelander from The Boys. Five new Kameo Fighters are also included: Tremor, Khameleon, Janet Cage, Mavado, and Ferra. Premium Edition players receive one week of early access to each DLC character as they release, ahead of their public availability date.
The Jean-Claude Van Damme skin for Johnny Cage applies the full likeness, voice, and outfit of the action film star to the character, a nod to the longstanding connection between Van Damme and the original Johnny Cage design.
