The game is set in New Kunlun, a sealed sanctuary that was once home to the Solarians, an ancient alien race. Players control Yi, a hermit who breaks from isolation to pursue vengeance against the Nine Sols, nine formidable rulers who govern what remains of this forsaken realm.

Combat is built around a deflection and parry system directly inspired by Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Successfully deflecting enemy attacks builds Yang energy, which charges a power called the Talisman that can be unleashed on enemies for heavy damage. The system rewards precise timing and careful reading of each enemy's attack patterns, with each encounter demanding engagement rather than avoidance. Boss fights in particular require mastering a specific rhythm before any significant damage can be dealt.

The world is structured as a Metroidvania, with interconnected regions that open as Yi gains new abilities throughout the game. A hand-drawn visual style with detailed 2D sprite animation runs throughout, and key story moments are presented in manga-style cutscenes with full Chinese voice acting. The narrative is described by the developers as lore-rich, with dialogue and world-building drawing heavily from Taoist mythology and philosophy.
