Orcs Must Die! 2 is an action tower defense game developed and published by Robot Entertainment. It was released on July 30, 2012, for PC. The game picks up immediately after the end of the original Orcs Must Die!. With the rifts sealed and the Order destroyed, the War Mage finds himself drawn into a new conflict against a fresh orc invasion. A new character, the Sorceress, joins the fight with her own backstory tied to the Order's collapse.

At its core, the game tasks players with defending magical rifts from waves of enemies. Each level gives players time before the assault begins to place traps throughout the environment, choosing from an expanding arsenal of grinders, dart walls, spike traps, and other devices. Once the wave starts, players fight alongside their traps in third-person, dealing direct damage with weapons and spells while managing enemy flow through the defenses they have laid out.

Two-player co-op is the game's defining new addition over the original. Players can tackle every level together online, with the War Mage and Sorceress each bringing their own set of spells, abilities, and playstyles. The Sorceress focuses on crowd control and elemental attacks, while the War Mage leans toward physical traps and direct combat. Playing together opens up more complex configurations and trap placements than solo runs allow.

A redesigned skull system lets players spend earned skulls on an expanded upgrade tree, giving finer control over how individual traps and abilities develop over time. Three paid DLC packs extend the game with additional maps, enemies, and challenges. Owners of the original Orcs Must Die! also receive the Classic Levels DLC for free, which includes revamped versions of levels from the first game rebuilt to support co-op and new enemy types.
