The concept is straightforward: after a plane crash on a mysterious island, one to four scouts must climb the mountain at the island's centre to reach the rescue point at the top. What makes the journey anything but straightforward is the combination of physics-based climbing mechanics, a hunger and stamina system that requires constant management, procedurally generated terrain that ensures no two runs are identical, and a deadly fog that rises from below — forcing players to keep moving regardless of how badly things are going.

Multiple difficulty levels called Ascents add stacking disadvantages for players who want a more demanding challenge, while the base experience is accessible enough for players of all skill levels to enjoy together.
