About Resident Evil Raccoon City Edition
The Resident Evil Raccoon City Edition is a bundle developed and published by Capcom that combines two separate remakes of classic survival horror titles, both set in Raccoon City and released within a year of each other.
Resident Evil 2 was released on January 25, 2019, as a full remake of the 1998 original. The game follows two separate but overlapping campaigns. Leon Kennedy is a rookie police officer arriving in Raccoon City on his first day, and Claire Redfield is a college student searching for her missing brother. The city has been overwhelmed by a viral outbreak, and the Raccoon City Police Department serves as the central location, with players navigating its corridors, solving puzzles, and managing limited resources while avoiding persistent threats. Resident Evil 2 holds a Metacritic score of 89 and an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam.
Resident Evil 3 was released on April 3, 2020, as a remake of the 1999 original. It follows Jill Valentine, a former member of Raccoon City's Special Tactics and Rescue Service, as she attempts to escape the city while being hunted by Nemesis, a bio-organic weapon deployed by Umbrella to eliminate S.T.A.R.S. members. The game moves at a faster pace than RE2 and is more action-focused, with Nemesis functioning as an aggressive and recurring pursuer throughout. Resident Evil 3 holds a Metacritic score of 77 and a Very Positive rating on Steam.
Resident Evil Resistance is included alongside RE3. It is a 1v4 asymmetric online multiplayer game where four survivors work together to escape scenarios designed and controlled in real time by a fifth player acting as the Mastermind.

Chronologically, Resident Evil 3 begins slightly before RE2 and concludes after it, as both games take place during the same September 1998 outbreak. Most players start with RE2 since it is the longer and more widely praised of the two, but either order works. The stories are self-contained enough to follow regardless of which is played first.
Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 are separate games with their own individual save files. Progress, unlocks, and settings in one do not carry over to the other.
The Raccoon City Edition includes the standard versions of both games. DLC such as additional costumes and the Original Soundtrack Swap for RE2 are sold separately and are not included with this bundle.
