Developed by Ocean Drive Studio and published by Kakao Games, Section 13 is a roguelite twin-stick shooter that fully released on May 26, 2025, for PC and PlayStation 5, with an Xbox Series X/S version following later in 2025. The game originally entered Steam Early Access in July 2023 under the name Blackout Protocol before being extensively rebuilt, rebranded, and relaunched based on player feedback.

Players take on the role of Agents of the S2P Corporation, sent to investigate an incident at Section 13, a classified underground research facility overrun by paranormal creatures and corporate secrets. Four agents are available to choose from, each with distinct playstyles: Red, Boy Scout, Beaker, and Scalpel. Every run is built around selecting a loadout, stacking temporary power-ups called Synaptic Enhancements, and pushing deeper into the facility through a series of shifting floors filled with cryptids and environmental hazards.

Combat runs at a high pace, with dodge-rolling, timed reloads, melee weapons, and special abilities all feeding into a system that punishes passive play and rewards aggression. A Fear mechanic adds an extra layer of pressure, with a rising fear level risking a mid-run panic attack if left unchecked. Between attempts, players unlock persistent upgrades that carry over across runs and significantly change how each agent performs. The game supports solo play and online co-op for up to three players, though crossplay between platforms is not supported. A free demo is available on Steam for players who want to try before buying.
