State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition is an open-world zombie survival game developed by Undead Labs and published by Xbox Game Studios. The base game originally launched on Xbox One and PC on May 22, 2018. The Juggernaut Edition was released on March 13, 2020, as the definitive version of the game and its first appearance on Steam.

The game is set just after a zombie apocalypse and puts players in charge of a small community of survivors attempting to rebuild. Every decision belongs to the player: who to recruit, where to settle, how to fortify and upgrade the base, when to move on to a new area, and how to handle other survivor groups encountered along the way. Each community member has their own skills, traits, and morale, meaning no two playthroughs develop the same way. Characters can be permanently killed, and losing key members to bad decisions or unlucky encounters carries real consequences for the community's ability to function.

Scavenging drives the core loop. Survivors head out into the open world to gather food, medicine, ammunition, and materials, while zombies roam every building and street. Resources are finite within any given map, pushing communities to either trade with other groups, claim new outposts, or relocate entirely. Vehicles deteriorate with use and require repairs. Weapons break down. Every run carries risk, and bringing back enough supplies to keep the community stable without losing a survivor in the process is the constant tension at the heart of the game.

The Juggernaut Edition includes the base game alongside three add-on packs. Heartland is a 10-hour story campaign set in a familiar location with its own characters and narrative. Daybreak is a four-player co-op siege mode where players defend a position against escalating zombie waves. The Independence Pack adds fireworks-based explosive weapons tied to a Fourth of July theme. The Homecoming update, added later, brings a fully remastered open-world version of Trumbull Valley from the original State of Decay back into the core game.

Juggernaut Edition also introduced a new open-world map called Providence Ridge, a former logging town with pronounced elevation changes and winding roads, alongside a graphical overhaul with improved lighting and foliage, new two-handed heavy melee weapons, an expanded soundtrack, a revised tutorial, and cross-network play between Steam and Xbox players.
