The game places players in the role of a colony leader in a post-apocalyptic world, tasked with building a sustainable settlement from scratch while managing the constant threats of a hostile environment. Over 130 buildings are available to construct, covering everything from basic resource collection and food production to defensive fortifications and research facilities. More than 80 unique specialists can be recruited, each with their own skills, motivations, and personalities that affect how your colony operates. Specialists are also sent beyond the colony walls to explore a procedurally generated world map divided into six distinct biomes, each with different resources, wildlife, and rival societies to encounter.
