About The First Berserker: Khazan
The First Berserker: Khazan is a soulslike action RPG developed by Neople and published by Nexon. It was released on March 27, 2025, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, following demo releases in October 2024 and January 2025 that allowed save data to carry into the full game. The game is set within the long-running Dungeon & Fighter universe, one of Nexon's flagship properties with a fighting game pedigree that shows through in Khazan's combat design.
General Khazan once defeated Hismar the Berserk Dragon alongside his close ally Ozma, becoming a celebrated hero of the Pell Los Empire. Falsely branded a traitor by a jealous court of nobles, Khazan is tortured, has his tendons severed, and is cast out of the empire he once served. Possessed by a netherworld spirit known as the Blade Phantom, Khazan is given a second chance to reclaim his lost combat skills and uncover the truth behind the conspiracy that destroyed him, setting him on a path of revenge against those responsible.
Combat is built around stamina management, requiring players to balance aggression with careful use of dodges, blocks, and parries to avoid being left vulnerable. The game structures its stamina system to reward pressing an attack rather than turtling defensively, since giving enemies room to recover their own stamina makes fights considerably harder. Three distinct weapon types, a dual-wield sword and axe, a glaive-like spear, and a greatsword, each carry their own dedicated skill tree and playstyle, with free skill respecs letting players experiment and swap builds without any cost.
Missions are structured similarly to Demon's Souls, sending players out from a central hub called The Crevice to individual levels connected by Blade Nexus checkpoints, each ending in a boss fight.
