About Travellers Rest
Travellers Rest is a tavern management simulation developed and published by Isolated Games. It entered Steam Early Access on July 28, 2020, starting as a solo project before expanding to a full team in March 2021.
The game places players in charge of a neglected tavern in a medieval fantasy setting, tasked with turning it into a successful business. Running the tavern involves serving food and drinks to customers, managing staff, keeping the space clean, and ensuring guests are comfortable. As the tavern grows, players unlock new recipes, furniture options, and upgrades that attract different customers and raise the tavern's reputation.
Beyond the bar itself, Travellers Rest expands into farming, brewing, and cooking. Players can grow crops on an attached farm, harvest ingredients, and use them to craft drinks and dishes with unique effects. The brewing system lets players experiment with different combinations and develop a menu that suits the tavern's character. Crafting and building tools also give significant control over the tavern's layout and decoration.
Outside the tavern walls, the game includes a surrounding town with its own cast of characters. Players can explore, take on quests, trade, and build relationships with NPCs as the story and world develop. RPG mechanics run throughout, covering a reputation system, skill trees, and experience progression that open up new content as the player advances.
Online multiplayer for up to four players was added in February 2025, alongside local co-op support. The game remains in Early Access with a full 1.0 release planned once the complete map, story, and remaining features are in place.
