About Ultimate Chicken Horse

Ultimate Chicken Horse is a party platformer developed and published by Clever Endeavour Games, a Canadian studio. The concept started as a game jam project in October 2014, built by a team that had previously worked on games like RimWorld. The game was released on Steam on March 4, 2016, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions following in December 2017 and a Nintendo Switch version in September 2018.

Each round drops players into an open level with a flag somewhere across it. Rather than the level already being built, players take turns adding a piece, choosing from a rotating selection of platforms, springs, saws, arrows, and other hazards. The goal is to add something that helps get everyone to the flag, or better yet, something that helps you get there while making it much harder for everyone else. If nobody reaches the flag, or if everybody does, nobody scores. Points are handed out for things like reaching the goal first or landing a trap that catches someone else out.

Players choose from a growing roster of animal characters, starting with Chicken, Horse, Sheep, and Raccoon, with more added through updates over the years. Up to four players can play together locally or online with full cross-platform support, and a shared controller couch feature lets four people play locally using a single controller by taking turns.

A level editor is included for players who want to build and share their own custom levels outside of the standard Party Mode format. Clever Endeavour Games has continued supporting the game with updates well beyond its original release, with the most recent update landing in mid-2026. A spiritual successor, Ultimate Sheep Raccoon, released on December 9, 2025, expanding on the same core formula with a racing-focused twist.
