About Victoria 3
Victoria 3 is a grand strategy game developed by Paradox Development Studio, directed by Martin "Wiz" Anward, and published by Paradox Interactive. It was released on October 25, 2022, for PC via Steam, running on the Clausewitz Engine. The game covers world history spanning from 1836 to 1936, the century surrounding the Victorian era, letting players take control of any one of over 100 countries that existed during that period. Nations can be steered in wildly different directions, whether toward agrarian tradition or rapid industrialization, conservative political structures or radical reform, and peaceful diplomacy or aggressive military expansion, with the outcome shaped entirely by the player's choices across decades of simulated history.
Population groups, referred to as Pops, form the backbone of the game's economic and political simulation, each with their own needs, employment, wealth, and political leanings that shift in response to how a nation is governed. Managing this population against the demands of industrialization, trade, warfare, and shifting global power structures is central to the game's core loop, with railroads, telegraphs, steamships, mass conscription, and emancipation all playing into how the century unfolds for any given nation.
