About Wanderburg
Developed by Randwerk, Germany's first worker-cooperative game studio, and published by Sidekick Publishing, Wanderburg entered Steam Early Access on September 8, 2026, via a single global unlock rather than a staggered regional rollout. The game reimagines the medieval castle as something that moves, in Wanderburg's world, fortresses roam the battlefield, villages flee from danger, and larger strongholds hunt smaller ones. Players command a modest mobile fortress that grows through constant consumption, rolling through the environment to absorb fleeing villages, wandering flocks, and smaller castles, while defeating larger enemy strongholds pushes that growth even further.
Castle building runs on a modular progression system, players combine cannons, arcane towers staffed with wizards, explosives, and other siege modules to build wildly different offensive setups, with steam-powered siege engines rolling alongside arcane artillery and knights riding bicycles into battle. Between runs, unlocking additional modules, vehicles, artifacts, and captains steadily widens the range of viable strategies and build combinations, encouraging experimentation run after run. The game supports mouse and keyboard or controller and is built to run well even on lower-spec hardware.
Wanderburg's launch has been a genuine breakout success, selling more than 150,000 copies in its first three days, drawing over 800 streamers, and peaking at 9.9K concurrent players. As an Early Access title, the game is playable in full but will continue receiving content and balance updates over time.
