What is Anti-Heal in League of Legends?

Anti-heal in LoL refers to the ability to reduce an enemy's healing. This is achieved through an effect called Grievous Wounds, which reduces all healing and health regeneration the target receives by 40% for 3 seconds. Items like Bramble Vest and Thornmail apply Grievous Wounds, but only when an enemy attacks you. So, if the enemy doesn't hit you, the anti-heal effect of these items won't activate.

How does Grievous Wounds work?

• It cuts healing by a flat 40%. Every source applies the same amount, so no item is stronger than another.

• It doesn't stack. If two sources hit the same target, you still get 40%, and the durations just refresh each other. Building two anti-heal items won't give you 80%.

• It affects more than healing spells. Life steal, omnivamp and health regeneration are reduced as well.

• It doesn't affect shields. Shields add temporary health instead of healing, so champions who rely on shields from Lulu, Janna or Barrier ignore it.

How to get Anti-Heal in LoL?

You can get Anti-Heal from three different sources in League of Legends such as Champion abilities, items, and Summoner Spells.

Champion Abilities:

• Katarina's Death Lotus

• Singed's Poison Trail while under the effects of Insanity Potion

• Varus' Hail of Arrows

Items:

• Bramble Vest

• Chempunk Chainsword

• Executioner's Calling

• Morellonomicon

• Mortal Reminder

• Oblivion Orb

• Thornmail

Summoner Spells: The only Summoner Spell you can get Anti-Heal from is Ignite.

Which anti-heal item should you buy?

The right item depends on your champion's damage type and role:

• Physical damage dealers: Executioner's Calling is the cheap early option, and it upgrades into Mortal Reminder for crit carries or Chempunk Chainsword for bruisers and fighters.

• Magic damage dealers: Oblivion Orb is the cheap early option, and it upgrades into Morellonomicon for mages.

• Tanks: Bramble Vest is the early option, and it upgrades into Thornmail, though it only works while enemies are hitting you.

• Anyone: Ignite costs no gold and applies Grievous Wounds as well.

Buy anti-heal when the enemy team haschampions or items that rely on healing, such as Vladimir, Dr. Mundo, Soraka or Warwick, or when they stack life steal or omnivamp. If your team already has Ignite or another source, an extra item may not be worth the gold.
