About Dying Light 2 Stay Human

Dying Light 2 Stay Human is an open-world first-person survival horror action RPG developed and published by Techland. It was released on February 4, 2022, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It is the sequel to Dying Light (2015), set in the same universe, roughly fifteen years after a global pandemic, born from the original Harran virus outbreak, has decimated most of humanity.

The story takes place in Villedor, one of the last major human settlements, and follows Aiden Caldwell, a wanderer and former test subject of the GRE who travels between remaining cities searching for his missing sister, Mia. Aiden arrives in Villedor to find a fractured city, with rival factions including the authoritarian Peacekeepers and the more communal Survivors competing for control while a mysterious figure named Waltz appears to hold answers about Aiden's past.

As in the original Dying Light, parkour-based traversal and melee combat form the core of moment-to-moment gameplay. Movement across rooftops, scaffolding, and ruined infrastructure is central to both exploration and combat, with a significantly expanded set of traversal tools compared to the first game. Combat blends melee weapons, crafting, and (following the Reloaded update) a fully fleshed-out firearms system that was limited to a single improvised shotgun at launch. Day and night cycles remain a core mechanic, with the infected becoming far more dangerous and aggressive after dark.

Player choices throughout the campaign affect the balance of power between Villedor's factions, shaping which areas of the city receive specific facilities and how the story unfolds. Co-op for up to four players is supported across the main campaign.

The Reloaded Edition, released February 22, 2024, folds in two years of post-launch content updates, the major Firearms Update introducing a full weapon arsenal, and the Bloody Ties story DLC, all included by default in the current Steam release. Existing Standard Edition owners were upgraded to Reloaded at no cost. Dying Light 2 Stay Human holds a Metacritic score of 77 and a Mostly Positive rating on Steam.
