Yes. For the first time in the series, you choose whether Dani Rojas is male or female at the start of the game. This choice affects some aspects of the story and character interactions.

Far Cry 6 supports online co-op, letting you invite a friend to join your campaign, consistent with Far Cry 5 and Far Cry New Dawn. The story campaign can also be played entirely solo.

Guns for Hire are rebel allies you recruit to fight alongside you, while Amigos are animal companions, including Chorizo the dog and Champagne the cat, each offering their own way of helping out in combat.

What's new in Far Cry 6 compared to earlier games?

Far Cry 6 introduces third-person cutscenes for the first time in the series, adds horseback riding alongside vehicles, and lets players choose Dani Rojas's gender. It also returns to the tropical island setting fans had missed since Far Cry 3.

What are the Far Cry 6 system requirements?

Minimum specs require an AMD Ryzen 3 1200 or Intel Core i5-4460, 8 GB RAM, an AMD RX 460 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960, and 60 GB of storage on 64-bit Windows 10. About Far Cry 6

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Toronto and published by Ubisoft, Far Cry 6 released on October 7, 2021 for PC via Ubisoft Connect. It returns the series to the tropical island setting fans had missed since Far Cry 3, sending players to Yara, a fictional Caribbean nation loosely inspired by Cuba, complete with a warm climate, a 1950s atmosphere, and decades of isolation enforced by a charismatic dictator. That dictator is el Presidente Anton Castillo, played by Giancarlo Esposito of Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian, who rules from the capital, Esperanza, and is determined to bring Yara back to its former glory, whatever the cost, including grooming his son Diego to continue his rule.

Players take on the role of Dani Rojas, a Yaran citizen turned guerrilla fighter, joining the resistance to end Castillo's regime. For the first time in the series, players choose Dani's gender, a choice that affects some aspects of the story. Far Cry 6 keeps the series' trademark mix of open-world exploration, a wide arsenal of weapons, and deep customisation, including signature makeshift weapon mods like sights made from cans, nail-firing guns, and disc launchers. New to this entry is horseback riding alongside the usual vehicles for getting around Esperanza and the wider island, and the game also introduces third-person cutscenes for the first time in the series, adding a more cinematic edge to its storytelling.

Consistent with Far Cry 5 and Far Cry New Dawn, Far Cry 6 supports co-op play, letting a friend join your fight for Yara's liberation. You can also recruit Guns for Hire, rebel allies who join you in combat, and Amigos, animal companions including Chorizo the dog and Champagne the cat, each bringing their own way of helping out in a fight.
