Yakuza Game Series
Yakuza, known in Japan as Ryu Ga Gotoku, is Sega's crime drama series, set in the neon streets of fictional Japanese cities like Kamurocho. Made by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, it pairs a long-running story of loyalty and betrayal with brawling combat and an enormous amount of side content, from karaoke and cabaret clubs to arcade games and substories that swing between deadly serious and absurdly funny. Since Yakuza: Like a Dragon in 2020, the series has been sold internationally as Like a Dragon, so you'll find both names on the games in this collection.
Yakuza 0 and the Kiwami Games
Yakuza 0 is the best place to begin. It's a prequel set in 1988, starring Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima before they became the faces of the series, and it's sold in its original form and as Yakuza 0: Director's Cut, an enhanced version released in 2025. Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are remakes of the first two games, rebuilt with modern visuals and mechanics. The newest remake, Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, released on February 12, 2026, is two games in one: Kiwami 3, a remake of Yakuza 3, and Dark Ties, a new story that follows Yoshitaka Mine's rise to power. GameBoost carries it in Standard and Deluxe editions.
Yakuza 3, 4, 5, and 6
Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4, and Yakuza 5 are available as remasters, both individually and in The Yakuza Remastered Collection, which bundles all three. Yakuza 4 splits its story across several playable leads, and Yakuza 5 spreads across multiple cities. Yakuza 6: The Song of Life was the first game on the Dragon Engine and closes out Kiryu's run as the main lead.
Like a Dragon: Ichiban Kasuga's Story
Yakuza: Like a Dragon (2020) started a new chapter with a new hero, Ichiban Kasuga, and swapped the brawling for turn-based, RPG-style combat. GameBoost carries it in Standard, Hero, Legendary Hero, and Day Ichi editions. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth continues Ichiban's story across Hawaii and Japan and is available in Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions on PC and Xbox. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is a spin-off starring Goro Majima as a pirate captain, available in Standard, Deluxe, and Digital Deluxe editions.
Spin-Offs
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name follows Kiryu in the gap between Like a Dragon and Infinite Wealth, in a shorter, brawler-style story, and it comes in Standard and Deluxe editions. Like a Dragon: Ishin! reimagines the series in the 1860s as a samurai story set in Kyoto, with a remake released in 2023.
Collections and Bundles
For a bigger first purchase, GameBoost also carries The Yakuza Remastered Collection, a Kiwami + Kiwami 2 bundle for Xbox, and the Yakuza 20th Anniversary Bundle.

Yakuza Games FAQs
The simplest path is chronological: Yakuza 0, Kiwami, Kiwami 2, Yakuza 3 (or Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties), 4, 5, 6, then Like a Dragon, Gaiden, and Infinite Wealth. Ishin! and Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii are standalone spin-offs that can be played any time.
Yakuza 0 is the usual recommendation, since it's a prequel that doesn't require any earlier knowledge. If you'd prefer turn-based combat and a fresh start, Yakuza: Like a Dragon works as a starting point too.
They're the same series. The Japanese name is Ryu Ga Gotoku, meaning "like a dragon," and from the seventh game onward, the international releases use the Like a Dragon title. Yakuza: Like a Dragon also introduced a new protagonist and turn-based combat.
Infinite Wealth continues Ichiban Kasuga's story, so Yakuza: Like a Dragon is the best game to play first. Gaiden fills in Kiryu's part of the story and is worth playing before Infinite Wealth, but isn't required.
Yes. It combines Yakuza Kiwami 3, a remake of Yakuza 3, with Dark Ties, a separate new story about Yoshitaka Mine.
It bundles the remastered versions of Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4, and Yakuza 5.
The mainline games are single-player experiences, with side activities and mini-games alongside the story.
Many entries use Japanese voice acting with English subtitles, and some newer games also offer an English dub. Check the Steam page for the game you're buying.
