About Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is a role-playing game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by Sega. It was announced in September 2022 and released on January 26, 2024, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It's the ninth main installment in the long-running series, directed by Ryosuke Horii, and a direct sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon, continuing the franchise's shift away from its earlier real-time brawler combat.
Ichiban Kasuga, protagonist of the previous game, travels to Hawaii in search of his long-lost mother, only to be ambushed shortly after arrival and left stranded on a beach with nothing but the clothes on his back. What begins as a personal search quickly pulls him into Honolulu's criminal underworld, with Kazuma Kiryu, the protagonist of the earlier mainline Yakuza games, joining him along the way. The story alternates between the familiar Japanese district of Yokohama and the vibrant, newly explorable streets of Honolulu, giving the series its first substantial setting outside Japan.
Combat continues the turn-based job system introduced in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, with characters selecting from a range of jobs that shape their available skills and combat role in battle. Exploration in Hawaii is built around a wide variety of activities and minigames, including the Sujimon system, a Pokémon-style creature collection mechanic built around recruiting and battling local characters found across the island. Cooking, restaurant management, and a range of side activities round out the game's substantial amount of content outside the main story.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth received widespread critical acclaim at launch, with reviewers praising its emotional storytelling, expanded Hawaii setting, and quality-of-life improvements to combat, while some criticism was directed at New Game Plus being sold as separate paid DLC rather than included with the base game. The game became the fastest-selling entry in series history, surpassing one million copies within its first week.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth holds a Metacritic score of 89 and a Very Positive rating on Steam. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Game Pass Premium. If you are already a subscriber, you can access it directly through your membership. If you do not have Game Pass, GameBoost offers Xbox Game Pass gift cards as an alternative way to get started.

Playing the previous game first is strongly recommended, since Infinite Wealth continues directly from Ichiban's story in Yakuza: Like a Dragon and expects familiarity with key characters and events. The game can technically be followed without it, but the emotional weight of returning characters and story threads lands much better with that context.
Yes. The game is available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Game Pass Premium, accessible directly through an active subscription.
No. New Game Plus is sold as separate paid DLC rather than included with the base game, a decision that drew criticism from some reviewers at launch.
Sujimon is a Pokémon-style creature collection mechanic exclusive to the Hawaii setting, letting players recruit and battle a wide range of local characters found across the island, adding a substantial layer of side content on top of the main story.
