About Medieval Dynasty
Medieval Dynasty is a survival RPG developed by Render Cube, a 22-person studio based in Łódź, Poland, and published by Toplitz Productions. The game entered Steam Early Access on September 17, 2020, and reached full release on September 23, 2021, following a run of over 19,000 user reviews at 91% positive during its Early Access period. Producer Marcin Warszawski cited Kingdom Come: Deliverance as an influence on the game's graphical design and historical setting, with Stronghold and The Forest shaping its city-building and survival systems.
Players begin as an ordinary commoner in the Middle Ages, choosing to make their way as a farmer or hunter before growing into the leader of a thriving settlement. The world runs on a full four-season cycle with dynamic day and night transitions and realistic weather, all directly affecting how survival and farming play out across the year. Managing hunger and thirst sits alongside gathering resources, hunting animals with bows and spears, and fending off bandits that threaten the village.
Village management forms the core long-term loop. Players design and construct buildings from over 25 structure types, ranging from simple huts to sturdy stone houses, and furnish them with more than 120 pieces of furniture and decoration. Villagers can be recruited to join the settlement, each contributing to its economy and growth, while a skill tree lets the player's own character specialize across combat, crafting, farming, and other disciplines. Relationships with NPCs can lead to marriage and children, letting players pass their dynasty on to the next generation as the settlement matures over time.
Co-op mode, added in December 2023, lets up to four players build and survive together on a dedicated map called The Oxbow, which introduced its own villages, characters, and landmarks alongside a character creator for customizing male and female avatars. The Oxbow is also playable solo. Render Cube has continued supporting the game with regular content updates, including a Full Stock update in June 2026 that added visible daily routines for village workers, and a 2026 roadmap outlining continued support through 2027.
Medieval Dynasty holds a Metacritic score of 73 and a Very Positive rating on Steam. The game is also available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, Xbox Game Pass Essential, and Xbox Game Pass Premium. If you are already a subscriber, you can access it directly through your membership. If you do not have Game Pass, GameBoost offers Xbox Game Pass gift cards as an alternative way to get started.

Yes. Medieval Dynasty is available across Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, Xbox Game Pass Essential, and Xbox Game Pass Premium, accessible directly through an active subscription.
Yes. Up to four players can team up on The Oxbow map, added in December 2023, which is also fully playable solo. The original Valley map remains a solo-only experience.
The game blends survival, life simulation, role-playing, and city-building. Players manage hunger and resources, develop their character through a skill tree, interact with NPCs and start a family, and grow a settlement from a single hut into a functioning medieval town.
Not particularly. Reviewers have noted that the storyline and quests are relatively shallow compared to the depth of the survival, building, and management systems. The game leans more toward an open-ended life simulator than a narrative-driven RPG.
