About Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil 5 is a third-person shooter developed and published by Capcom. It was originally released on March 5, 2009, for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a PC version following on September 15, 2009. The game follows Chris Redfield, now an agent for the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance, alongside new partner Sheva Alomar. Their investigation into a bioterrorism threat in Kijuju, a fictional region of West Africa, pulls them into a deeper conspiracy tied to the legacy of Umbrella Corporation and events from earlier in the series. The story introduces new factions and enemies while continuing threads from Resident Evil 4.
Gameplay builds on the over-the-shoulder third-person shooting introduced in Resident Evil 4, with a faster, more action-forward pace and a stronger emphasis on direct combat. Players manage a shared inventory split between both characters, upgrade weapons using gold found in the field, and must coordinate with their partner to handle the range of enemies and bosses throughout the campaign.
Two-player co-op is central to the design. The entire main campaign is playable cooperatively online or via local split-screen, with both Chris and Sheva available as controllable characters.
