About The Crew Motorfest
The Crew Motorfest is an open-world racing game developed by Ubisoft Ivory Tower and published by Ubisoft. It was released on September 14, 2023, for PC via Ubisoft Connect and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with a Steam release following on April 18, 2024. It is the third entry in The Crew series, a sequel to The Crew 2, and the first game in the franchise to leave the continental United States as its setting.
The game is set on a scaled-down recreation of the Hawaiian islands of O'ahu and Maui, covering Honolulu's city streets, volcanic slopes, rainforest roads, mountain switchbacks, and coastal beaches in a single connected open world. The central framework is a motor festival where all in-game activities are organized, drawing comparisons to the Forza Horizon series in structure and tone.
Playlists are the primary way to engage with the game's content. Each Playlist is a multi-event thematic campaign built around a specific area of car culture, including dedicated campaigns for Japanese street racers, vintage classics, Lamborghini models, Formula 1, off-road racing, and more. Over 25 Playlists were available at and shortly after launch, with additional content arriving through seasonal updates. Each Playlist uses loaner vehicles themed to its subject and introduces that culture's history and context through racing and incidental NPC dialogue rather than cutscenes.
Alongside cars, the game supports planes, boats, and motorcycles. The roster launched with over 600 vehicles and has grown to over 700 across more than 50 manufacturers through post-launch updates. Players who own The Crew 2 can import almost their entire vehicle collection into Motorfest at no cost using the Collection Import feature. Grand Race is the game's large-scale multiplayer mode, supporting up to 32 players across platforms in a single race. Demolition Royale is a separate 32-player mode where crews of up to eight players drop in and compete to be the last vehicle standing.
An offline mode was added on September 12, 2024, following significant player backlash over the permanent shutdown and license revocation of the original The Crew. A Friend Pass lets owners invite up to three friends to play the full game beyond the standard five-hour free trial. The game has received three years of post-launch content, including new islands, seasonal updates, a NASCAR partnership, and the TrackForge user-made track editor introduced in March 2026. The Crew Motorfest holds a Metacritic score of 76.
