About UNO
UNO is a digital adaptation of the classic card game developed by Ubisoft Chengdu and published by Ubisoft, licensed from Mattel. It was released on December 8, 2016, for PC via Ubisoft Connect, following its console launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in August 2016. A Nintendo Switch version followed in November 2017.
The core rules are the same as the physical card game. Players match cards in their hand to the top card of the discard pile by color, number, or symbol, and use action cards, including Skip, Reverse, Draw Two, Wild, and Wild Draw Four, to disrupt opponents. The first player to empty their hand wins the round. Players must call out when they are down to one card, and failing to do so before another player catches them results in drawing additional cards.
The PC version supports solo play against AI, local multiplayer on the same device, and online matches of up to four players in both free-for-all and 2v2 team formats. Six customizable house rules can be combined in any configuration, including Stacking, which lets players pass Draw Two and Wild Draw Four penalties by playing the same card type, Jump-In, which allows any player to immediately play an identical card out of turn, and 7-0, which triggers hand-swapping mechanics when those specific cards are played.
MyDesign lets players personalize their game space with unlockable boards, card decks, music, and avatars using coins earned through play. Happy Hour is a rotating weekly event where a specific DLC theme is made free to try for 24 hours, giving all players temporary access to different themed decks without purchasing them. Chat Chaos mode adds a Twitch integration, allowing viewers to vote on disruptive in-match events during live streams.
Multiple themed DLC packs have been released since launch, each adding new card designs, sound effects, and in some cases new rules or mechanics to the base game.
