Take Command of Your Battlegroup
- The Cold War-era armed forces of six nations - aligned to NATO or Warsaw Pact - can be led into a hyper-detailed World War III: U.S., West Germany, United Kingdom, and France square off against the Soviet Union and East Germany. From conscripts and main battle tanks to mobile SAM systems, self-propelled artillery, scout helicopters, strike aircraft, and fast interceptors, each WARNO nation has its unique arsenal of vehicles, planes, and soldiers.
- More than 1000 different military units are featured, such as the mighty M1A1 Abrams, the British MCV-80 Warrior, French Gazelle scout helicopters, German Leopard tanks, Spetsnaz special forces, SU-25 Frogfoot, the East German KPz T-55AM2 or Mil Mi-24 Hind helicopter gunships. About WARNO
WARNO is a real-time tactics wargame developed and published by Eugen Systems, an independent studio with over two decades of experience making military strategy games, including R.U.S.E., the Wargame series, and Steel Division. WARNO entered Steam Early Access on January 20, 2022, and reached its full 1.0 release on May 23, 2024. It's a spiritual successor to Wargame: European Escalation, running on Eugen's proprietary IRISZOOM engine.
The game is set in an alternate 1989, diverging from history in April 1987 when hardliners stage a coup against Mikhail Gorbachev over his perestroika reforms, forming a troika of the Communist Party, KGB, and Soviet Army determined to restore the Soviet Union to its former strength. What follows is a conventional war between NATO and the Warsaw Pact along the Inner German Border and Czechoslovakia. Players choose from six nations: the United States, West Germany, the United Kingdom, and France on the NATO side, against the Soviet Union and East Germany on the Warsaw Pact side, each fielding a unique arsenal of over 1,000 historically accurate units, including main battle tanks, mobile SAM systems, self-propelled artillery, scout helicopters, and strike aircraft.
