How to Get Gold Camo in MW4 on Every Weapon

How to Get Gold Camo in MW4 on Every Weapon

The MW4 gold camo is the first Completionist camo on every gun, and the first one you have to earn in a single match. If you want to know how to get gold camo in MW4, the short version is two steps: finish the gun's MW4 military camos and Special challenges, then win one big match.

That last part is the MW4 gold camo challenge: 15 eliminations in a single Multiplayer match, or 100 in a single DMZ match. Below, you'll find what has to come first, where those kills come easiest in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, and which guns to send to Gold before the rest.

MW4 Gold Camo Summary

  • Level the gun until all 8 Military camos are done. They come in order through Weapon Level.

  • Clear the 3 Special challenges on that gun. Any mode counts, and the camo then shows up everywhere.

  • Get 15 eliminations in one Multiplayer match or 100 in one DMZ match to earn Gold.

  • Pick fast respawn modes on small maps for the Multiplayer route, and save DMZ for slow guns.

  • Finish Gold on a whole weapon class, since Platinum only opens once every gun in that class has it.

  • Warzone stays out of the grind until Season 1.

What You Need Before the MW4 Gold Camo

What You Need Before the MW4 Gold Camo

Gold sits behind every earlier camo on the same weapon. Activision's MW4 progression and prestige guide lists the order as Military, Special, Completionist, and Mastery, with Gold as the first Completionist reward.

The MW4 military camos come from Weapon Level alone. Each gun has 8, and the thresholds change from gun to gun. On the HAN 86, the first arrives at level 10 and the eighth at level 65.

Special camos are the three challenge camos. Each one opens at a set Weapon Level, and the launch patch notes say a Special finished in any mode becomes available in every mode. Our MW4 camos guide lists the Special challenges for the HAN 86 and Sang 9mm.

Activision's patch notes describe one camo grind shared across modes, and Warzone joins it later. Its new version, along with Warzone camo progress, arrives with Season 1.

How Do You Get 15 Eliminations in One MW4 Match?

You get them by playing a mode where fights never stop, with a gun you can already handle. Activision lists the Multiplayer target as 15 eliminations in a single match, with no class exceptions stated in the guide.

My pick is Team Deathmatch or Kill Confirmed on the smaller Core 6v6 maps. Free-For-All works too if you like every player being a target. Shipment arrives as a 6v6 map on October 27, and on a map that tight, 15 eliminations can come quickly for an SMG or shotgun.

Slow guns change the math. A sniper or launcher can still hit 15, though every death costs it more time getting back into position. Objective modes such as Hardpoint give steady traffic around the hill, which helps if you sit on the edges and pick off players rushing in.

Kill Block runs 3v3 and 10v10 Gunfight at launch. Rounds last 50 seconds and the match ends when a team takes six, so a 3v3 lobby simply runs out of targets before you reach 15. I'd leave it for warm-ups.

Gold in DMZ, the 100-Elimination Route

DMZ asks for 100 eliminations in a single match. Activision's guide notes that non-player targets count in DMZ and gives that as the reason its Special challenge counts run higher there. I'd send guns that struggle in 6v6 this way. A launcher, marksman rifle, or melee weapon can work through AI groups at its own pace, without racing human players for kills.

Each deployment is its own attempt. The guide asks for all 100 inside one match, and a run that ends at 70 starts from zero next time.

Both routes feed the same camo track, so one class can split between them. Your SMGs can go Gold in Multiplayer and your launchers in DMZ.

Which Guns to Take to Gold First

Start with the guns you'll main anyway. The S-tier picks in our MW4 meta tier list, such as the M4 and ISO Nightshade, collect weapon XP in matches you'd play anyway.

Think in classes as well. Platinum opens only after every Gold challenge in that weapon class is done, and Activision's example is 8 Gold challenges for the Assault Rifles. Finishing one class gets you to Platinum sooner than spreading Gold across several.

Short on time? Call of Duty Accounts on GameBoost can come with weapon progress already in place, so you can start on Gold without the full level grind first.

FAQs About MW4 Gold Camo

How do you get Gold camo in MW4?

Finish all 8 Military camos and the 3 Special challenges on a weapon. Then get 15 eliminations in one Multiplayer match or 100 in one DMZ match.

Does the MW4 Gold camo challenge count in DMZ?

Yes. DMZ has its own version of the challenge with a target of 100 eliminations in a single match, and it feeds the same camo track as Multiplayer.

Do you need Gold on every gun for Platinum?

You need Gold on every gun in the same weapon class. Platinum then opens for that class, with a class-specific challenge such as headshots for Assault Rifles.

Does Gold camo progress count in Warzone?

Not at launch. Warzone joins the shared camo grind once its new version arrives with Season 1.

Final Words

Mode choice is the biggest lever you control on the road to Gold. Military camos reward steady leveling and Special challenges add up across games, but Gold comes down to one strong match.

Nobody outside Activision has said whether private matches or bots count. Plan around public lobbies. If the in-game card ever reads differently from the guide, trust the card.

I'm starting launch week with Assault Rifles, since rifle headshots look like the friendliest Platinum. Which class are you taking to Platinum first?
