Built on Bohemia's new Enfusion engine, the game serves as both a standalone experience and a direct creative platform leading into Arma 4, introducing the tools, systems, and modding infrastructure that will define the next generation of the series.

The game is set on Everon, a fictional Cold War island inspired by Czechoslovakia, where US and Soviet forces fight for control alongside local guerrilla fighters. Matches take place across 51 square kilometres of open terrain featuring forests, villages, coastlines, and military installations, with large-scale PvPvE combat that rewards tactical coordination, logistics management, and situational awareness over individual mechanical skill. A comprehensive medical system, realistic ballistics, vehicle damage modeling, and a supply chain framework give every engagement meaningful depth.

Game Master mode lets one or more players act as real-time scenario designers during a live session, spawning units, setting objectives, adjusting weather, and directing events as the match unfolds. This mode effectively turns Reforger into a tabletop-style sandbox for cooperative military roleplay.

On PC, Bohemia provides Workbench, the exact same development tools used to build the game, allowing the community to create and publish custom content through Workshop. Mods are accessible to both PC and console players through Workshop, making cross-platform mod sharing a core part of the experience.
